On a 10 hour road trip through Atlanta we ended up in Tennessee to pick up our fur baby. Born in December 2017, Trouble was so precious in every update picture we received. I'd miraculously encountered someone in Bass Pro Shop with the most well-behaved corgi (if you haven't read in many corgi owner posts across the internet lovingly refer to their dogs as "terrorists", but it's all due to their energy level and training). I had never in my life had the courage to ask to pet someone's dog especially a corgi. I was already in my 7th year of trying to adopt a corgi. The owner and my family chatted in the store while my girls ran around him trying to love on the dog.
"You seem like a great family, I want you to have this..." and he provided me his breeders' information. I had heavily considered buying from a breeder during my attempts to adopt a corgi, but in Florida corgis were in high demand and the breeders wouldn't give you any time in their day to find the right dog for you. Most of the time I had no responses or call backs. Besides that it was the fear that I was supporting a puppy mill that kept me from looking any further. This kind man was putting in his recommendation and I took the leap. Stepping into the modest home I saw him staring back at me from his play pen in the living room. He looked like he was going to rock our world. Talking to the breeder and filling out paperwork for his AKC registration, Trouble came out of the playpen to interact with us and he was... Trouble (very fitting). He started pulling my pants, barking, eating my fingers, gnawing on my purse and jacket. I didn't know what I signed up for, but I was determined to love it. The breeder gave us a lovely care package for him took his momma out to say 'Goodbye' and Trouble was off on his first adventure. He was naturally well adapted to the car ride, never cried after leaving his family, and never chewed furniture. Though he's picked up some bad habits on the way. I was wondering whether to irony of his name got to him and he decided to be a rebel and do the exact opposite.
